While most people probably haven't ever heard of OpenOffice, the open-source software is posed to be the biggest competitor of software giant Microsoft Corporation against their Microsoft Office software.  The main threat that OpenOffice.org seems to be presenting is that their software can do nearly everything the costly Microsoft Office does - free.
